Myopia, commonly known as near-sightedness, extends beyond a mere need for glasses. In children, myopia tends to progress steadily until late adolescence, leading to increasingly blurred vision, frequent changes in prescriptions, and heightened risks of eye diseases later in life. The term ‘myopia control’ encompasses various approaches aiming to slow down this progression, and we are excited to introduce the next generation in spectacle-based management: the Stellest 2.0 lens.
Building on the foundation of the original Stellest 1.0 lenses, the 2.0 version represents a significant advancement in slowing myopic eye growth. The original design utilized a constellation of microscopic lenslets to create a signal that slows the elongation of the eye. The new Stellest 2.0 lenses elevate this approach with enhanced H.A.L.T. MAX technology. By increasing the power and asphericity of the lenslets, this updated design creates twice the depth of volume of non-focused light.
This means the Stellest 2.0 delivers a much stronger optical signal positioned further from the retina. Current clinical data indicates that this stronger signal slows axial elongation significantly more than the first generation, achieving an estimated 46% relative reduction in axial length change compared to the original 1.0 lens. This provides a more powerful tool to support healthier visual outcomes during a critical stage of a child’s development, all while maintaining clear and comfortable vision for everyday activities.
